"Boy or a girl? What are you hoping for?" Mathias, your husband of two years asked you. You thought for a second.
"I don't know...Either one. I'm just thrilled to be having a child."
"Girl...No. Boy. No! Yeah..Boy." You laughed at him as he tried to pick between a boy or girl.
"Hello Mr. and Mrs. Kohler. How are you on this fine day?" You doctor greeted you and your husband.
You both grinned and replied, "Great!" at the same time. The woman laughed.
"Okay, pull up your shirt to the bottom of your breasts and we'll get this started." You did as told, laying on the bed. Mathias was standing next to you, smiling warmly.
"Alright...You're two months right now?" She asked you, rubbing a warm green goop on your stomach. "Yes," you replied. She turned the screen your way and started looking for the child's gender.
You were shaking with nerves, excited nerves that is. "Hmmm. Looks like it is going to be a girl! Congrats," She informed you and your Danish husband.
You squeaked with delight as she handed you a photograph of the life growing inside you.
This was going to be fun.
"Cheese, mayo, lettuce, chicken, bacon, caramel and tomatoes," you told the clerk at the sandwich shop. She gave you a confused look but did as you said. You'd started having the weirdest food cravings a few months into your pregnancy.
You payed the woman and sat down to eat your sandwich(that tasted amazing by the way).
"Hello there, beautiful." You Danish husband greeted you with an insane grin that could brighten anybodies day. Even a cranky pregnant woman's. "Hi," you replied, with a mouthful of sandwich. He sat down in front of you, giving you a look as the caramel dripped from your sandwich. You sunk into your seat a little, only to earn a laugh from the Dane.
"Mmmmm. Looks good," He said sarcastically. You sent a playful glare his way.
"What? I was hungry...." You said after you finished your sandwich, getting up to leave.
Mathias wrapped an arm around your waist, exciting the shop. He opened the car door for you, letting you in first then going to the drivers side.
"(Name). (Name), we're home. Wake up," Mathias said in a light voice, shaking you lightly.
You groaned. "Let me sleep," you demanded in an ice-like tone.
"As you wish, min dronning. But you must do so inside the house." You groaned at his words
He patted your five month old pregnant belly, then he picked you up bridal style with a small grunt. "Y-tour heavy," he commented. You pouted a little. "You try carrying a planet around with you every where you walk and not be heavy."
He laughed, kicking the door shut when he got inside. He set you on the couch, panting a little too heavy, and pretending to wipe sweat from his brow. "Geez. What a work-out," he grinned. You smiled at him.
At first, you were thrilled. Now you just wanted that little blessed devil out of you.
Lets face it, being pregnant sucked. And not just for you. For Mathias as well. You were constantly yelling at him for random stuff and then crying afterward, saying you were "sorry" and that you shouldn't have raised your voice.
You were so stressed and in so much pain as a seven month old pregnant woman.
You groaned as you felt a pain in your side. You pulled the plush blankets closer around you, only to throw them off a second later because you were too hot. Mathias walked in, opened the balcony door that connected to your room and sat next to you on the bed.
"I don't like seeing you hurt...What can I do to make you feel better?" Your Danish husband asked. You looked at him with pleading eyes and said, "You can get me some Resess Peanut Butter Cups. Like now." He just chuckled and complied, going downstairs to get your peanut butter cups.
He came back moments later to see you weren't on the bed anymore.
"(Name)?" he looked around the room before hearing you reply.
"Yeah? I'm in the bathroom...." You said quickly, before throwing up yet again. He walked in the bathroom, setting the peanut butter cup on the counter and pulled your hair back. You groaned and sat up, wiping your mouth with a cloth. "I..Need mouth rinse..." Mathias grabbed it off the counter and handed to you. Gurgling, you spit it out in the toilet, only to throw up again.
"Ready?" he asked you, grabbing the car keys quickly and the bag you and him had made to prepare for the night of the child's birth. You nodded, hurrying to the car.
You made a noise that could put an elephant to shame as a contraction made you double over in pain. Mathias steadied you and helped you into his car, setting the items in the back seat.
"Faster! I can't hold this thing inside me forever!" You yelled as Mathias hit a yellow light. He stepped on the gas, passing a red light as he went.
At least there were no cops...Until now of course. Mathias groaned. He refused to pull over, but he went the speed limit, not risking another ticket to add on to the one he was sure to get.
"C'mon man! My wife is having a baby!" He tried reasoning with the cop.
"Can't you deal with this later! Do you want your child to be born in front of the hospital at two in the morning, or would you like this to continue later and have this baby inside in the warmth of a hospital with epidurals and nurses?!" You yelled as your water streamed down your leg.
"Okay..You guys get a warning this time," the officer informed your husband.
You screamed in pain as you gave a final and tired push.
Crying. High pitched crying and a red, chubby, wrinkly baby girl. You smiled with half opened eyes.
Mathias held her after you and smiled as you drifted to sleep.
"Well hello there sleeping beauty. Would you like to hold you're adorable child?" Mathias giggled. You nodded and took her.
"(Child's Name). That's what I was thinking..." Mathias said. You nodded and smiled.
"(Child's Name). I like it." You smiled warmly at the child and talked to it about everything and anything. Mathias smiled, the happiest man in the world.
